About him

Christopher 'Basil' Slader

Christopher 'Basil' Slader

Passed on: February 24th, 2021

Christopher 'Basil' Slader, 25, passed away suddenly after being rushed from work to the Milk River Health Center on February 24, 2021. Chris graduated from Stelly's Senior Secondary where he enjoyed hanging out with friends, playing rugby and hacky sack. A voracious reader, you would always find him with a book in his hands and many others on the go at the same time. One of his favorite places to read was the bathroom - much to his brothers' dismay. Chris was a huge hockey fan, the San Jose Sharks were hands down his favorite. Chris also had a love for classic cars, a 71 Challenger was his dream car. Always thoughtful of others, Chris was a gentle and unassuming beautiful person. You were always greeted with a hug and I love you. Even at 25 he would tell you that he missed you when you got home from work, of course while you were in his arms getting the biggest hug! In typical middle child fashion, Chris was a peace keeper and usually the first to compromise. Unless of course he had an opinion about the situation - he could be stubborn as heck and strong in his conviction. Inside out and backward t-shirts were an ongoing battle for years. Chris had a wicked sense of humor and was quick with one liners that you weren't always ready for. Blessed to have been part of his life and left to mourn his loss are his father, Greg Slader, mother Micheline, stepfather Raishi Basi, brothers Dan and Will Slader. Aunts and uncles Mark Slader, Carllynne Slader, LeeAnne (Garth) Shinski, Pam (Adam) Littman, Theresa Carr and Kerry Johal. Cousins David, Derek (Kate), Tyler, Zach, Sam, Wyatt, Emmett, Hera, Felina and Kade. Grandparents Rick and Debbie Campbell. A special thank you to my soul sisters Jullie Matthews and Jacqueline Armstrong. It takes a village, not only to raise a child but to support a family. Our structure is stronger because of you. Chris was blessed to have other mothers like you. A private family viewing took place February 27, 2021. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local library.
